Insight School of Wisconsin: Celebrating Our December Students of the Month

Stories & Spotlights

We are so excited to celebrate two outstanding students, Tiana Spurley and Evie Wee, as Insight School of Wisconsin’s Students of the Month for December! Tiana and Evie were chosen by our school’s administration and staff for their remarkable academic achievements, uplifting attitudes, and dedication to learning.

Mrs. Johnson, Tiana’s High School Engagement Mentor, shared this about Tiana’s nomination:

“Tiana has demonstrated being a true self-advocate and owning her education path.  She set a goal to graduate in June and has consistently shown up for herself–in her studies, in her teacher-led classes, and her check ins–and knows that we’re all here to answer questions, support learning and help her be successful as a student.  Tiana doesn’t hesitate to ask for help, encourages others, and one of my favorite things in my meetings with her, is so grateful to her mom for her support.  What a great example she is for her siblings, too!

While barriers are REAL for all of us, Tiana has developed learning and study strategies that work for her AND has joined in further support/learning (an extra class and work) to continue learning more.  Tiana is kind, curious, resilient and focused on her bright future.  When I asked what do you want to do after graduation, her answer is that she’s not exactly sure of the area she’ll work in but she’s confident and knows she wants to help others.

Tiana, THANK YOU for letting me be a part of your journey.  THANK YOU for making ISWI HS a better place!”

Mrs. Thompson, Evie’s High School Engagement Mentor, shared this about Evie’s nominations:

“Evie joined ISWI midway through the year last year and has been doing a great job since. She does an excellent job balancing her school responsibilities with a busy work schedule. Evie consistently engages in her live K12 courses, works diligently in her credit recovery courses, and prioritizes attending her weekly check-in sessions.

One thing I truly appreciate is that Evie uses her mic during check-ins with me so that I am able to hear her voice. Evie is interested in studying to be a mortician after high school, and we’ve been looking at courses she could take this year to strengthen her science background.

Evie, thank you for your dedication, hard work, and commitment to your future. I’m excited to see all that you’ll achieve in the future!”

We’re proud to have Tiana and Evie as members of our school community. Their positive attitudes and dedication to their studies serve as an inspiration to their classmates. Congratulations, Tiana and Evie!
