About Our School
Welcome to Insight School of Wisconsin!
Insight School of Wisconsin is an alternative high school serving students in grades 9-12 that meet the Wisconsin Statute definition of at-risk. Any student being admitted to Insight must be either a 5+ year senior OR meet at least two of the following criteria:
- Credit deficiency- defined by their grade level and the number of credits they have towards our graduation goal:
- Sophomores- 1st semester- 0 credits
- Sophomores- 2nd semester- 2.5 credits or less
- Juniors-1 st semester- 5 credits or less
- Juniors- 2nd semester- 7.5 credits or less
- Seniors- 1st semester- 10 credits or less
- Seniors- 2nd semester- 12.5 credits or less
- Academically Deficient (as evidenced by local or state testing showing the student is at least two years behind their grade-level counterparts)
- Adjudicated Delinquent
- History of Truancy
- Will be or is a parent
Insight students are paired with an adult engagement mentor who supports them from enrollment through graduation and beyond. These mentors meet with students regularly, offering encouragement and guidance to help them stay motivated — not only in their classes, but also in learning, planning, and growing into their future selves. Insight teachers deliver engaging, high-quality curriculum and provide the academic support, encouragement, and opportunities students need to succeed in every class. Graduating with a high school diploma ensures that doors remain open for our students as they move into adulthood, empowering them to pursue their goals and future opportunities with confidence.
Benefits of Online Schooling with ISWI
While the benefits of attending Insight School of Wisconsin may look different for every student and family, some of the main advantages ISWI families experience include:
- Learn from home. Public school at home allows students to attend school from a familiar environment while staying connected to teachers, mentors, classmates, and school resources.
- More flexibility in the school day. Learning online can make it easier for students and families to balance school with work, extracurricular activities, appointments, and family responsibilities. Students are still expected to attend required classes and check-ins, complete coursework, meet deadlines, and make consistent academic progress.
- Support along the way. Students have access to teachers and Engagement Mentors who provide academic support, encouragement, accountability, and guidance as they work toward earning their high school diploma.
- A combination of live and independent learning. Students participate in teacher-led classes and independent coursework, giving them opportunities to learn with direct teacher support while also building the skills needed to work independently, manage their time, and stay on top of their responsibilities.
- Connect with students from across Wisconsin. Virtual classrooms bring together students with different experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives, giving students opportunities to learn from one another.
- Build valuable technology and independence skills. Learning online gives students regular experience using digital tools, communicating virtually, managing assignments, and developing skills that can help prepare them for college, careers, and life after high school.

Our teachers are committed to helping your family succeed with online learning. They provide instruction and support as your child works through the curriculum. And they keep the lines of communication open through:

You’ll also receive textbooks and other hands-on education materials delivered right to your door! These offline materials complement the interactive online elements of the lessons and vary by grade and course.
*Students who turn 21 while enrolled may remain enrolled until the end of the current term. High school students must also be able to demonstrate completion of the eighth grade through official transcript or homeschool portfolios.
**State criteria for being At Risk Designated is taken from statutory language.
